Does you husband has a PEG (feeding tube). Regardless of the treatment, he needs to keep up his strength, and especially not get dehydrated. He needs 2000-2500 calories and 8-10 8oz fluid. If he has a PEG, he can bypass his throat.
PS: Radiation pain is different, and healing is different, for everyone. What I've been told is that the worst is actually 1-2 weeks after treatment ends. So use your medication!

Sandy 56, BOT SCC Biopsy 1/21/09 Stage 3, T3NXM0.
Finished 3 cycle induction chemotherapy 4/7/09. (Chisplatin, 5-fu and Texotere). Re-staged 4/20/09,(very successful.) Will start Carboplatin/radiation 2 Gy/5 days/7 weeks (Tomotherapy) starting May 4th. Finished 6/22/09.
