Hi, I have just joined this forum, so am unsure if am posting in the right place. My mother was diagnosed with base tongue cancer in Nov 08 which was missed by the hospital in Apr 08. She underwent free flap tongue reconstruction in Dec 08 along with removal of 31 lymph nodes of which 21 tested positive for cancer. She is due to undergo 6 wks of radiotherapy in 2 wks time, but another lymph node is already enlarged. I know head and neck cancers are the worst, and reading this forum has made me more aware of just how many of you are going through this and worse. Right now I am so scared she will not beat this thing, and am trying to stay positive.

Mum: rare muco epidermoid carcinoma of left tongue base. Partial glossectomy with radial free flap reconstruction, left modified neck dissection, tracheostomy. Due to undergo radiotherapy.
