I live in Vermont and travelled to Boston, MA for my radiation treatments. I stayed in Boston from Mon-Fri and then travelled home on Friday afternoons and returned Sunday night (about 4 hours each direction). I found that once the radiation really got to me, I didn't have the strength to travel on the weekends and so, stayed put. The day the treatments were over, I travelled home and stayed there recuperating for a good long time.

I think you'll have to assess how you're feeling and also cosult with you doctors. You don't mention what your treatment regimen is and that will certainly be a factor. From many posts on the board, I think it fair to say that surgical procedures are not as trying as radiation or radiation and chemo. Hope you're able to travel soon. - Sheldon
