Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 2,019 | I had a partial glossectomy and selective neck dissection before radiation. All the nodes were clean but other features of my tumor which suggested it was more aggressive than most meant radiaiton was the safest course.
Although I was terrified ahead of time, the neck dissection was a walk in the park compared to radiation and chemo. Even though I looked like the bride of Frankenstein with all thoe staples in my neck for a while. It healed quickly and well and there is only one angle at which you can even see my scar clearly because it left a little pucker in the skin
