What type of formula are you using? You may be able to find one that is higher in calories so that way you have to do less cans??? After treatment is always the worst. I felt bad for about a week and a half after, some people feel bad longer. I'm over a month out now and I deal with getting tired easily. My stomach felt like it shrunk a lot during treatment, it was used to getting just a little bit of food constantly throughout the day but once I started eating by mouth again it didn't take long for it to stretch back out! I just had to eat a bunch of small meals at first. For the mucus in your throat try Robitussin to thin it, and as for the sores on the tongue the only thing that helped me was morphine (I couldn't even swallow water because it burned my tongue). But the side effects will get better, you just have to be patient.
Congrats on being done! And I have no clue how you managed to drive all the way through!
Stephanie, 23, SCC on the right side of my tongue, surgery on 5-19-08, over half my tongue removed, free flap constructed from my forearm, bilateral neck dissection, one positive node. Radiation (32) and chemo (carboplatin) started on 6-16-08. Recurrence 4/09 in lungs.
