My family is in Virginia as well. We are in Virginia beach tho. We ended up going to Johns Hopkins. Her ENT is Dr Wayne Koch. He is amazing. I hope you are going to see him. My mother had a tumor on her tongue removed in October and is now doing chemotherapy at Virginia Oncology. I have also heard great things about the medical college of virginia in richmond.
