I was amazed reading this story and feel like someone needs to get in touch with this guy and put him in touch with reality. His doctors certainly are not doing that. Last year they found SCC in his cheek, this month they found SCC, via a fine needle biopsy, in a node in his neck................and they're calling it skin cancer. They're also telling this guy that other than a few "short term" side effects from radiation, his life will return to normal. SCC may also be skin cancer, but as an Oral cancer we all know it's far different then a little spot on our cheek, etc. This guy has it in his neck, that's not skin cancer!
SCC Left Mandible. Jaw replaced with bone from leg. Neck disection, 37 radiation treatments. Recurrence 8-28-07, stage 2, tongue. One third of tongue removed 10-4-07. 5-23-08 chemo started for tumor behind swallowing passage, Our good friend and much loved OCF member Minnie has been lost to the disease (RIP 10-29-08). We will all miss her greatly.
