My husband finished 7 Chemos and 41 radiation treatments on August 2,2005. He lost about 50 pounds during this and was getting only Ensures down most of the time. He did not have a PEG. We knew he would continue to feel tired after treatments and would slowly get to start to eat. We were prepared but not for what happened next. He went into renal failure and liver failure about a week later. He has a history of Congestive heart failure and I guess everything hit him at once. Three doctors told me he would not last the night - the next day he begged me to take him home and I told him I would and got hospice to help us. Within 24 hours of coming home he was improving!! At that point I decided I was treating him to live not die. It is a slow process of getting better. He is fighting so hard and exercising and slowly getting more nutrition in. Slow but sure is our motto. He has lost a lot of muscle tone but is stronger than last week. He is a miracle and we have prayer chains all over the country. I just wanted to let you all know of our last weeks. | | |
