I agree that massage and stretching are really the key but if you want a good lotion I'd suggest either shea butter or shea and olive oil. I read a study on Vit. E's use on scars that said, contrary to reputation, it actually didn't soften more then other things it was compared to and sometimes caused dermatitis. They didn't compare shea butter, though, so I could just be receommending the next snake oil--I am just recemmending it from personal experience using it on my own neck dissection scar (or I was until radiation). You can get it at any health food store.
