We have had lots of talk about the importance of teeth, If it were me I would fly around the world to get teeth! (Fortunately I still have all mine.) Definately get additional opinions. There are others here that either have had similar work done or are getting ready to have it done.
For any one else recently diagnosed, PLEASE PLEASE do not let them take your teeth unless it is absolutely necessary. The old standard for preparation for radiation was to have your teeth removed. That thinking fortunately has been replaced by the view of removal only if they are in bad shape to begin with. I am afraid that some Medical profesionals are still thinking the "old" way!
Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
