Wise decision, Larry.
I had to make a similar choice last year. Our company has eliminated extended sick leave, we can use what we have accumulated and have an option to purchase short term disability. I had 248 hours left of extended sick leave after my treatment last year. In order for short term disability to kick in for my cancer, it had to be in effect a year. So, this year I am paying for short term disability while I still have 248 hours to burn if I have a recurrance. So far so good, but can't risk NOT being covered.
People can tell me all they want to that I am done and not to worry, but I refuse to be in a "wish I had" situation.
