This surgery is somewhat common, and we have posters here ( who I hope will speak from their own experiences to discuss this with you in detail) that have had it done very sucessfully. A combination of autogenous grafts of your own bone, held in place with titanium plating, is capable of an anatomically correct restoration. The TMJ's are usually not affected in these surgeries, and remain the patient's own joints.
