"Above & Beyond" Member (300+ posts) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 372 | Randy, My husband's stage of tongue cancer was T2-3 and he had tongue surgery and modified neck dissections with what the oral surgeon said was clear margins and no lymph node involvment. He said Dan did not need radiation and this was a local oral surgeon at a local hospital. Exactly 4 months later Dan had a very aggressive neck tumor followed by a radical neck dissection, chemo and radiation. I hadn't found this site yet and we were NOT at a comprehensive cancer center and did not get any other opinions. I have learned so much since then and would definitely recommend an opinion from a center dealing with oral cancers. God bless and take care, Debbie
Debbie - Caregiver for husband, Dan, diagnosed with tongue cancer 7/03. Partial gloss., mod. neck dissections, graft. Recurrence neck tumor 12/03. Radical left neck dissection 12/24/03-unable to get all the tumor. 8 weeks chemo/rad beginning 1/12/04.
