I think small chuckles are great, Joanna. Here's one from my radiation planning appointment, which seems eons ago:
Over the last few years I've taken to crocheting, usually for Christmas, Birthday, Wedding, or Baby Shower presents. At the time of my planning appointment I was working on a Baby Blanket for my girlfriend.
It's a good thing I brought it along, because this particular day they ran 2 hours behind (turns out that this was the rule, not the exception, but that's another story). When they came to get me, they asked what I was working on, so I told them. I received the appropriate number of "ooh"s and "aah"s and headed into the planning room.
They had me all set up and about to press the xray button and they ran into my room in a panic (and I do mean a panic). They had asked about the blanket, but not who it was for - they thought I was making a baby blanket for myself!! I laughed and assured them I had more difficult issues to handle right now than getting pregnant.
When they returned to xray again, the technician re-enters my room to announce the crocodiles are back. ooohhhhhkkkkaaayyyy - my confidence level was REALLY starting to wane here.
As it turned out, that last minute abort caused the machine to crash. The crocodiles were their version of a computer blue screening. After waiting 2 hours, I had to come back the next day! From then on, whenever someone asked me about it, I was very specific that the blanket was for a friend and not for me.
