There are many things that could be causing hearing loss - infection, blocked or poorly draning eustacian tubes, sinusitus, allergies, even sudden exposure to loud noises, etc.
By all means go back to the ENT and get a Dx and Tx for this. If you don't respond to Tx in 2 weeks then you need to push it to the next level. Ask for an audiology axam while you are at it.
I wouldn't automaically assume that its cancer though, so take a deep breath, try to relax and make the appointment with the ENT.
