Yes you might be neurotic but tell them that you'd be less so if they could prove to you that it is not a recurrence. Forget about how you appear to them, they probably didn't go through a cancer diagnosis.
Odd breathing sensations can be a side effect of stress and anxiety. Of course the more you think about it the worse it gets. I spent several uneasy hours in the emergency room at about 2 years out, because I was light-headed and dizzy with a sense of being unable to breath. I was sure it was "IT" in my lungs....well I was hyperventilating thats all. Yes I was slightly embarrased. So what? It was real to me and I had to know.
Those of us with low salivia are constantly breathing drier air than before. I am convinced that accounts for several things in my new normal.
I believe you would be able to have an MRI if you needed to.

Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
