I know it can seem hard to take this on when you were first told you have an early stage cancer that can be treated just by surgery, I went through the same thing myself, but that "little speck" really does make a difference in your staging and the later-on risks of cancer from radiation are quite low compared to that 40% chance. There are lots of people here who have had IMRT radiation and have recovred from it quite well and without many QOL issues (I am not the best example of this, but I also had chemo). My personal opinion is hit it with the big guns.
