Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: May 2002 Posts: 2,152 | Hi Lenny, Since you are looking for a long term survivor, I have mets to one lymph node in 1997 and am still around 'kicking butt'. That's what the neck dissection is about. Getting rid of it before it can do harm. You will probably need come PT a few weeks after surgery. You also will need to support your arm for a few weeks after the surgery so you don't get a drag on the shoulder while it is weak.
