After having symptoms for only a short time, and no risk factors, I have just been diagnosed with locally advanced SCC of the tongue base. Currently going through meeting the CCC care team, doing all the staging/planning etc and emotionally all over the place.
I have tremendous family/friend/neighbour/workplace support, and realize how fortunate I am in that. Treatment will begin within a couple of weeks, and I am apprehensive about it but everybody has been very honest with me and I am sure that I'll get through, but already have a lot of "detail" questions for that forum.
Will be back often.....
StanV locally advanced oropharyngeal SCC new Dx December 2015 Finished chemo/radiation March 2016 Osteonecrosis May 2016, resolved with debridement Clear PET scans July 2016 and January 2017 Ongoing issues with dry mouth, swallowing, etc but so grateful to be here
