Getting upset can only make you feel worse. Try to stay busy so you keep your mind off the "what if's". I know its really hard not to think of all kinds of scenarios. No matter what this is you can only take it step by step and day by day.
Make an appointment to see an ENT who specializes in oral cancer. They will be the most familiar with symptoms and giving you a thorough exam. Hopefully its nothing serious, only a common cold or virus.
