It was quite a while until my hearing didn't feel like I was at 20,000'. Like Christina and others have stated, cisplatin can cause permanent hearing loss, but it is fairly rare. I had cisplatin and my audiology tests showed an improvement, but I often do things backwards, just ask my wife.
