Sounds like we are in a similar place, I had a tongue sore that would not heal. Surgery was necessary whether it was cancer or not due to size, and biopsies during surgery told us it was cancer. The surgeon took out what he could to get clear margins. Later we got the full pathology report that told what kind, etc. Hopefully you will get more detailed information soon too.
