My husband completed treatment the first part of April a year ago and is scheduled for follow-up appointments and his usual scope June 18th. I have asked twice about what the plans are to both the ENT doctor and his chemo doctor who calls himself the quarterback for all of Jeff's treatment. (Funny because he was the last one to get on board.) Only received one message from him mainly about scheduling to have his port out and this one statement "The risk of recurrence goes down with time and PET has diminishing returns."
Doesn't really answer my question and the ENT was suppose to discuss it in the tumor board meeting 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back.
With his rare and aggressive cancer I would think that another scan would be good. He had one 3 months and 8 months after treatment.
Husband diagnosed Oct '11 Cancer of the vocal cord Nov '11 removed right vocal cord. Neck Dissection, cancer in one node, .2, very small & contained) Jan '12 Radiation and Cisplatin, 6 doses. June '12 & Dec '12 clear Pet scan. April '13 Celebrating 1 year cancer free since treatment ended.
