Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 507 | The Scripps Proton Therapy Center in San Diego is undergoing testing and will open to the general public in a couple months.
It is the second proton therapy center in California and more sophisticated than the Loma Linda facility located 100 miles north of us.
It will be use in the treatment of some Head & Neck cancers and by what I have heard so far is getting an excited welcome as another tool.
It has a spot scanning modulated pencil beam system that should be able to fully emulate IMRT or SBRT with little entry or exit dose damage.
