I was just at Mayo for a second opinion on a small parotid lymph node that was being evaluated here in Chicago. FNA negative, no other findings. My son lives in Scottsdale and while visiting I got an appt with Dr. Hinni. He was not concerned about parotid but noticed 'asymmetrical lingual tonsil' that he said needs to be biopsied. He will remove the parotid nodule at the same time. I am so afraid. Is there anyone whose only symptom was this base of tongue problem? I am going to Mayo for this surgery April 25th. I have a chronic hx of oral herpes-could this be related? I am 62 years old, female and very healthy otherwise.

If anyone can help calm my fears I would so appreciate. My 4 week wait for biopsy will be hard to do. Thank you and my prayers are with all of you. I had been on the parotid forum prior to this and we can help each other so much.
