Senior Member (100+ posts) Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 126 | hey kerri, i am a little over a year out of treatment and i periodically will get sore areas on my tongue/mouth, that go away in a few days. i think it is a combination of dry mouth, along with various other factors (such as food and prolonged irritation from radiation) that will cause my mouth to have these flares. I have noticed that any time i drink any type of alcohol this usually happens also.
Act dry mouth helps me pretty much, but when i am going through really bad dry mouth spells (some weeks are better than others), i will sometimes sleep with an ace bandage or something wrapped around my head to keep my mouth from opening in my sleep. it is weird and unattractive, i know, but give it a shot! it has helped me a lot
