Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,671 | DB7 - To answer your question, my son did have some pain associated with the sore that grew to a lump about the size of a small walnut. The doctor told him the reason there was pain is that the cancer was wrapped around a nerve and that most people do not experience pain with his type of cancer (squamous cell or SCC).
