Ed, I used viscous lidocaine during rads and it was prescription. I swished it around and held it in my mouth for longer and longer periods as the sores in my mouth got worse. Dunno the mixture that Emily writes about, maybe it's even better (?). Anyway I recommend you speak with your RO about it.
