We brought our dog Freya to the vet today - an eye infection and an issue with her mouth. The swelling in her soft palate he has been keeping an eye on for the past few months is larger, and it likely cancerous. We will be making an appointment with a veterinary oncologist for evaluation and biopsy. If it is cancerous, we may be able to buy her some quality time with surgery, or possibly a kinase inhibitor, Palladia, that has had some success in canine therapy. She is 15 and has a good life, and we will only go ahead with treatment if quality of life will be good.
Kind of ironic. You would think that one family member having oral cancer would be enough.
