I am 9 weeks post surgery after having a semi-glossectomy and freeflap. I had IMRT, 7000 rads, and Cisplatin ending back in June 2009 after a neck dissection. I had another previous surgery Jan 2008 for a partial glossectomy when I was first diagnosed.

I just had a clear MRI 2 weeks ago.

My surgeon and chemotherapy doctor tell me I should be aggressive as I can to prevent yet another reocurrance.

The radiation doctor is now not really recommending brachytherapy because of the clear MRI. He said the side effects are pretty bad and the treatment would compromise my quality of life much further.

I was wondering if anyone could share and insights.

Unfortunately, my insurance limits me to my local area.

Thank you so much!
