It is used to numb sore mouths so the patient can eat or clean their mouth without so much pain. It is a temporary numbing rinse. The patient would take about a tablespoon into his mouth and swish it around for about 15 - 30 second then spit it out. It is NOT to be swallowed. The magic mouthwash I used was made of idocaine, malox, and benedryl. It worked wonderfully!!!
