Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 8 | Hi bob, welcome to OCF! I have used both a PEG tube and J/G tube for almost 4 years combined. Ive experienced my fair share of ups and downs with each type.
Your mothers problems go to not the tube but the formula she is using. If you check the can there probably isnt any fiber in it. Does your mother take any pain meds? The pain meds cause constipation but the formula without fiber will alot of times cause diarrea. Best thing to do is add fiber like benefiber to her formula. If she is using a pump then slow things down and add some extra water too.
Please give me more details as to your mothers type of formula and how she takes her formula. I will then be able to help you better.
