Senior Member (100+ posts) Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 188 | marisa, so sorry to read this. we've been battling fevers but it has not progressed into pneumonia. i can tell you his 6th of 7 chemo treatment was postponed due to low white count and fevers, my dad is 78 and the dr wanted to be cautious. there seems to be a number they shoot for in chemo infusion mgs, in my dad's case it was 200 mgs of cysplatin and he had that amount over 5 infusions which his dr said satisfied him, although they will try for the last treatment if his white count improves. perhaps ask you dr about this? it was confusing for my dad to understand, but in short, his chemo had a "minimum baseline requirement of 200 mgs over the course of treatment"
