As you can see from my signature, I had a partial glossectomy with a modified neck dissection. With 6 years plus under my belt, my taste has come back my speech is normal and my tongue is not numb. I am still numb in my neck from the dissection. Most days I don't even notice it and I consider myself lucky that that's all I have wrong.
You should see improvement over time.

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.
