Thanks, guys for your responses. I have seen a speech therapist, but other than doing tongue-stretching exercises, there's litle that can be done. She did refer me to a specialist, however that she said could build a mouth insert to lower the roof of my mouth and could possibly help both my swallowing and eating abilities. Two minor problems with this however; 1)The prophyllactic will cost me around $5k (which I don't have), and 2)I've lost his information AND the referral.
My family thinks it's not even worth talking with this guy if the insert is going to cost more than I have....(or can sweet-talk my way into!)
I have Medicaid/care and I think it'd be at least PARTIALLY covered, right? The main thing is to keep from isolating (thanks, Jennifer) and feeling "less than"
