I'm so glad to see that you took my advice and signed up here. I hope you get back here soon as I had promised you, there already is some great advice in this thread.
Until John gets back on here I will fill in some gaps. I just found out about his situation last Wednesday while I was skiing locally and called him during lunch. We spoke briefly and he is being treated at Fox Chase. He did see Dr. Ridge, but will be having radiation and chemo, so Dr. Ridge will not being doing any surgery.
I am in Utah this week, but plan to give John a call when I get home.

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.
