Hello All,
I am very new to this forum, so forgive me if I am not writing the proper terms with Oral cancer. My DAD , who is 68 years old has been diagnosed with Oral Cancer and primary area is the tongue. and its now in T1, N1, M1 stage. After 2 weeks of testing they found out that one of the lymph nodes was affected. The doctors didn't do a PET scan and decided on a surgery for him. Today he had a 4 hour surgery , which removed 15% of tongue and also a fully modified neck dissection on the right side and removed all the nodes. They said after the Histopathology report , they will decide on the further course such as Radiation /Chemo. Is this the regular course of action? . I want to travel to be there with him during the radiation phase. I want to know how many days after surgery usually the radiation recommended.
