My understanding also is that if it is dormant it won't show up in a bloodtest that's why my doctors won't test me for it. I have HCV - it's been dormant since I was 6 years old (when I had my only blood transfusion). It became active almost 30 years later and has been dormant ever since. I also had shingles (Herpes Zoster) from chickenpox that I had as a child. It also lays undetectable in the ganglia unless it goes active.
