Im very frugal and hate to waste anything. My idea would be to rent one for the weekends that you want to go out and live it up. This way you arent stuck with a huge bill that would make things tight. Down the road you probably wouldnt want to be burdened by another expensive vehicle. Just tires on those fancy cars cost an arm and a leg.
Just be happy with whatever you decide. Im very sorry to hear of the lastest prognosis. Enjoy everyday as much as it is possible. Wishing you many many happy days ahead!!!!
