Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | I had the 1st ever staple out into my right shoulder in 1972 to hold my bicept tendon in place at UPMC in Pittsburgh . We always went to Fla, for Easter and loved the sun and warm air. Not thinking, I was in the sun much too longand the staple just had a little scar tissue over it. Damn, the staple got so hot I thought it was going to burn the tissue right off of it. Tee shirt time from then on for that vacation. The sun penetrates pretty good and deep on scar tissue.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
