Hi tw - Your case sounds similar to my husband's. He also has been dealing with SCCs since 2002 and has also had 3 (plus) surgeries to remove small cancers but never had radiation or chemo. He also has had laser treatment on his lichen planus/leukoplakia, but just once and that seemed to get rid of most of it. He has had good check-ups since then altho there is always something his doctor is watching (Shands, Gainesville, Florida) and categorizes these as lichenoids which will have to be monitored the rest of his life. Husband: 3 SCC gum and cheek cancers 2002, 2005, 2006: surgery only. Scans clear after removal of small, well differentiated, non-invasive cancers. No radiation. 4th SCC lip diagnosed 4/13/07 - in situ, removed in biopsy. More lip removed 2/8/08 - dysplasia. 2 Biopsies 3/17/09 no cancer (lichenoids)
