I wasn't much of a candidate for the tube without going thru malor surgery to lower my stomache back into it's cavity after having 1/3 of it unwrapped from my Esophagus. This discussion interests me highly because now they want to do the surgery to put things back in place so they can remove all of my tongue and all of my jaw and and then insert the tube and trach along with a few other procedures.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
