| Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 10 Member | Member Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 10 | Havent been on this forum for months, my mother had tongue cancer, had major surgery and 7 wks radiotherapy, it did not work, the cancer travelled to groin lymph node and PET scan showed small deposits in liver and chest. she will die, but we dont know how long. Her cancer was rare - mucoepidurmoid in the tongue, usually a salivary gland cancer, but it has behaved v differently to what they expected.
Mum: rare muco epidermoid carcinoma of left tongue base. Partial glossectomy with radial free flap reconstruction, left modified neck dissection, tracheostomy. Due to undergo radiotherapy.

Husband Robin aged 44 years Dx 8th Dec 2006 poorly differentiated SCC tongue with met to neck T1N2cM0 Surgery and Radiation.Finished TX April 2007 Recurrence June/07 died July 29th/07.
