My FIL has started having problems with eating dry food about 4 months post IMRT. If possible please provide generic name or link.

FIL completed treatment 10/08. CG to father in Law in india who had SCC oral tongue T2N2M0. FIL underwent surgery, neck dissection, IMRT, and erbitux without losing weight or getting nauseated. Completed October 2008. SO far so good.

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 718 | My husband used Evocax. I think it helped some, but what helped the most was time. I think it took a good year before he was happy w/ his saliva...and, it continued to improve even after the year mark.

Dx 5/18/07 SCC, BOT, lymph node involvement. T1N2BM0. (Stage 4a, G2/3)
Tx 6/18 - 8/3/07, IMRT x 33 Cisplatin x3 (stopped after 1st dose due to hearing issues). Weekly Erbitux started 6/27/07 completed 8/6/07.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Joined: May 2002 Posts: 2,152 | I used Salagen for a couple of years. Downside is perspiring for several minutes about 30 minutes after you take it. It does work.

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 718 | The evocax didn't cause any excess perspiration for Dan. It's really hard to tell how effective it was because his mouth was so damaged when he was taking it. I think it helped, but he had to take it 4 times a day around the clock.

Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 711 | Evoxac is fairly new, according to my r.t. doc, and she wants me to keep her aprised of how it's working. It seems to help but not to the degree where I can eat normally yet. Just enough to have a little moisture in my mouth.
David R. 65 yr old male non-smoker, light drinker, stage 3 or 4, depending on which doc you ask, scc rt. tonsil, 2 nodes, 7 weeks radiation and chemo. No surgery. Teatment ended 3/20/08. PET scan 8/08 showed no cancer.
And now, as of oct, 2010, caregiver to wife, Linda, with breast cancer.
May, 2013, Linda diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Enuf already.
