I finally was able to get to the hospital today. Dot is resting easily and did recognize me. We had short converstions and I was happy that she knew who I was. Her husband is talking about hospice now.

Every time my cell phone rings, I jump.

Thanks for all the warm, caring posts. You are all truly my dearest friends.

Dot's family has been informed by the hospital that there is nothing else they can do for her. She will be going home tomorrow to start hospice care and for what I hopw will be a peaceful passing.

Your prayers are greatly appreciated.

Jerry,

So sorry to hear it has come to this, and so quickly. I'll pray for a miracle, and it that is not to be, that it will be a peaceful passing.

Jerry, I'm so glad that you got to see Dot while she still recognized you. What a long, close relationship you must have had together, and how sad for it to come to an end in this way. Perhaps, with her at home, you will have another opportunity to visit. I will add her to my ever-lengthening prayer list.

It's with great sadness and I must admit with some relief, that I was told tonight that Dot passed away this evening. The last week has been terrible for her family as she had been in a coma and had several seizures.

It's quite an accomplishment for someone in the dental assisting field to remain in the same job for over 25 years. She was my right hand, a very devoted employee as well as a friend and she will be sorely missed by me and all of her coworkers.
