Have you quit smoking yet? I had a scare last fall and got a prescription from the doc that helped me quit within 2 weeks. I hope you'll do the same for your own sake and the sake of your loved ones. | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 Administrator, Director of Patient Support Services Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) | Administrator, Director of Patient Support Services Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 | Wishing you the best of luck tomorrow. I sure hope that your results are negative tomorrow.
I too want to emphasize the fact that no matter what the results are, you really need to stop smoking and I hope that will be on your agenda.
Please get to your dentist before the swelling returns as it will surely come back. Sounds like you have an abscessed tooth.

My ENT told me that he was going to put a rush on it (biopsy) and after calling them a million times they finally told me to come in 2 1/2 weeks later on a Monday no less at 3 pm. BTW the nurse spilled the beans over the phone telling me that he stops seeing patients at 2pm. I certainly didn't think he was planning a party but guessed he didn't want his patients to hear any screams coming from my exam room.

Turns out I had spots in my mouth just like my little doggie has spots in his, and all over his body. (really weird. he has pink skin with black spots all over!) It's weird. I have spots everywhere, it seems. And I get them in the strangest places. I had them appear in my mouth just lately, but a couple years back, my eye doctor did this test where this machine literally takes a photo of the inside of your eye. And I apparenly have a spot INSIDE my eye! So weird.
Now, he did say something about in the one spot there were some kind of cellular changes? But he said not to worry about it.
So I got the good news! It's NOT bad!!! Now if I can get the other problem in my mouth fixed up, I'll be in good shape!
I also meant what I said about doing something to help people get educated about oral cancer. There needs to be more awareness, and people need to learn how to examine their mouths and what to watch for and stuff. I've learned SO much these past few weeks, and I am going to share what I've learned with others. Oh, and I really am going to quit smoking!
Thank you all for being so supportive through all of this with me. It really has meant a lot to me. I have kept all of you in my thoughts and prayers since I found this place, and I will continue to do so. I hope it's okay if I still come here somtimes.
Please take good care of you!!!

I hope you can get to the dentist to get fixed up.
It only gets worse with time.
