Just wanted to give you an update. I saw the thoracic surgeon yesterday and he read my scans. He said it doesn't look like cancer, that it could be an inflammation (infection) like alot of you had said. (thanking the man upstairs!) He said he sees this alot in head&neck cancer. He's putting me on antibiotics for 2 wks and a decongestant. He had asked me if I have trouble coughing up mucous. Which I do, it's still thick. Then I go back in Jan. sometime and have another scan done, so hopefully it won't be there. Whew!!!! Great to hear that news. Thanks for letting me share. Have a great day smile Linda

Linda......Hooray! I know how anxiety-provoking the spot must have been. I, also, had an area of "increased uptake" on my one-year PET/CT just a few weeks ago. My radiologist said that it didn't present like tumor, and that it was most likely inflammation....that he sees a lot of that this time of year on films. My surgeon concurred when he saw the film and examined me, saying that there will often be inflammation with head and neck surgery patients, because of the changes in our anatomies. What a relief! Now I know not to immediately panic when a scan shows a ghastly-looking dark area. This one was fairly large, but diffuse, not clear like a tumor.

To Linda and all of my new friends under a yr I want to pass on a saying that I heard and it
explains why cancer survivors are my heroes.

"The measure of a persons success is not measured by power, possesions or personal achievments, but rather by thier ability to pick themselves up after life's tradgedies knock them down."

I want to thank everyone for picking up my spirits. Happy Holidays to all!

Just finished reading all the replys, I still have goosebumps, and a big smile on my face!!! Thank you all for your kind words. I just went to a Bob Seger concert in Pitts. on the 14th.(I'm sure some of you know of him) smile I've always wanted to see him perform. It was awesome. I know that doesn't have anything to do with cancer, but again everything sort of does. I guess what I'm trying to say is, there's still life out there for us to enjoy. So let's enjoy it, and take it all in. Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas & a very Happy and Healthy Year to come!!!! Linda

Linda,

What memories you brought back. My first concert was going to see Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band in 1976 at the Pittsburgh Civic arena. Stranger in Town Tour.

What a blast I had.

Merry Christmas to you as well.
