Scared M,

I hear what you're saying but I don't think you are going to be able to let this behind the scenes thinking go for another 6 weeks and I would do what you really think is best. It's easy for 2 professionals to differ in their diagnosis, I mean that's why people seek additional consults. We do that on getting our car repaired for pete's sake so why not our body, our potential life.

I don't mean to be hard on you but if it weren't for my wife constantly nagging me and even going behind my back and tricking me into an appointment, I would be dead today. No question in my mind.

Scared M...I too do not want to cause any extra concern but I want to express that sometime doctors do not see what is in front of them and what ever you choose to wait or to push of course it is all your choice. I was another where the doctor missed the mark. He told me it was an irritation from my dentures, gave me a mouthwash and sent me on my way...four months the sore didn't physically bother me but it was seeming to get bigger and I went back to my denturist. He was concerned and sent me to an oral surgeon who directly did a biopsy. If the first doctor would have recognized the fact that the sore had been there already three months, I may have possibly gotten away with less surgery. There are no guarantees with that of course but still I like to hand on to a few things. In this game the name should be called persistance... Take care scaredm and as long as you are comfortable with diagnoses good if not please don't let people push you around.

Please folks, we all know there are examples of poor decisions by doctors. That IMHO is no reason to assume they are all bad. (or bad all the time). My cancer diagnosis was delayed by 6 Months with a solid lymph node that whole time. Trouble is I had NO other symptoms.

The forum is supposed to advocate and support the people that come here. Scared is seeing at least 2 doctors. I would be hard pressed to suggest that both of them don't know what they are doing. It would also IMHO be a bad practice to go poking holes and taking biopsies for every inflamed tonsil that presented itself to a doctor.

The only added suggestion I have for Scared is that I think 2 weeks is long enough before seeing the ENT again. (or both)

Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
