Jim,

The dye they put in didn't do it. They put that in before the first image, and also I've had that dye before for other tests and had no problem.

It was supposed to be image #1 at rest, then drink a glass of milk and another at-rest image #2. Then inject the chemical stressing agent by IV for image #3, and then I was supposed to eat a fatty meal before going on the treadmill for image #4.

I already knew I'd never make it on the treadmill anyway, but I was going to try. It seemed important and I really want this fixed.

I understand what you're saying about your reaction, but mine was not that. I could not breath or speak AT ALL when the stressing agent was injected. My broncheal tube immediately closed up completely and the situation had turned momentarily critical. That's why the mad rush for the oxygen mask and the med to counteract it. The Doctor referred to it as a critical asthmatic attack as a reaction to the chemical.

Oh well, Doc was training a new assistant in the procedure that day so he got to show her what to do when things go wrong. You'd think he'd be grateful that I provided the opportunity for that training. smile

Lani,, it wasn't a reaction,, the dye was supposed to do that so I wouldn't have to walk the tread mill.It was called a nuclear stress test, without involving the tread mill.I think the tread mill I could have handled but for some reason he wanted it done this way.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Jim,

Mine was also called a nuclear stress test. I guess there are just variations in the way they do them. I was expecting the "stress" that you describe, but what I had was definitely not what any of us were expecting.

Lani Im sorry to hear things havent been going so good for you lately. Hope your latest tests for next week come back with good results. You know try not to stress while waiting for the results. It seems like it takes them forever for the results to come back.

Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving. You should be very proud of your son, he sounds like a wonderful young man.
