Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 706 | My husband had his first Taxol infusion yesterday. He has a rash on his chest-it does not itch but is slightly raised. A rash is a side effect but shouldn't have happened so early. I will be calling the doctor tomorrow but was just wondering if anyone had the same experience.

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.

TREATMENT START: 8/9/07 cisplatin/taxol X 7..IMRT twice daily X 31.5.
TREATMENT END: 10/1/07
PEG OUT: 1/08
PORT OUT: 4/09
FOLLOWUP: Now only annual exams. ALL CLEAR!

Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 706 | He's just very tired. The rash is not itchy but still there. He also has redness in his face. No fever. He had similar side effects from the Taxotere. I guess this type of chemo is rough on him. Not like any of it was a walk in the park but he had virtually no effects from the Cisplatin and that's supposed to be the strongest. I'm sure the cumulative effects from ALL the chemo he's had has something to do with this.

Neil has been thru so much as have you too. Tx is so hard and everything he has been thru would keep anybody else completely down and out. Neil is a trooper and has an inner strength and quiet calm about him. Hoping tomorrow is easier and he feels a bit better.

Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 706 | He is feeling so sore today. His feet, knees, and jaw are so painful. He is walking like an old man. It's very sad to see him like this. He is not complaining but the look on his face is enough to make me cry. Doesn't take much these days. I know these are side effects of the chemo but that doesn't make it any easier. He just keeps saying that it's only the first treatment, the pain will go away. Let's pray he's right.

Please give me Neil my best. When I read your posts, it brings me back to when I was taking care of my brother, he experienced alot of what Neil is. I know how helpless you must feel when you see him.
